FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER - (Fork Lift Truck)

£26 - £27K Starting Salary + Bonus

Working Area - Tankersley, Wortley, Stocksbridge & Sheffield

POSITION PURPOSE

To provide a professional, efficient & responsive service support to customers by means of maintaining & repairing materials handling equipment to the highest standard whilst observing Health and Safety regulations at all times. To always ensure value for money is achieved for both the customer and the company.

REQUIREMENTS

You must have:

A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Field Service Engineer (i.e. within the Engineer grading level).

Acquired the relevant qualifications knowledge and skills attaining Level 3 Diploma in Lift Truck Maintenance and Repair (VRQ/VCQ) or higher.

Have attended at least 2 product training courses.

A bias toward either IC or electrical trucks.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Electrical knowledge

a)Be proficient in reading both electrical and IC truck wiring diagrams.

b)Have the ability to diagnose electrical faults on both IC and battery trucks.

c)Be proficient in using a multi meter.

d)Be able or know how to use the following CAN units Curtis, Sevcon, Zapi.

Hydraulic knowledge

a)Be proficient in reading a hydraulic schematic diagram.

b)Be proficient in carrying out pressure tests and be capable of setting relief pressure on the following: - main pressure, secondary pressure, steering pressure.

c)Be able to strip and reassemble a hydraulic valve bank, cylinder and gear pumps.

Transmission

a)Be able to carry out a full pressure test both electronically (on certain models) and manually using pressure gauges and have the ability to diagnose problems.

b)Be able to interpret the test information for main, forward /reverse clutch, torque converter pressure and carry out a full stall test.

This individual must be team oriented and flexible, and actively seek to share information and assist his or her peers.He / she must maintain clear written and oral communication proficiency with colleagues and customers.

Key Accountabilities

a)To undertake the repair & maintenance of industrial, agricultural and warehousing trucks and ancillary equipment, ensuring maximum profitability and return.To carry out fault diagnosis to identify reported breakdowns.

b)Repair of equipment wherever possible as a first time fix ensuring full Health and Safety compliance whilst maximizing return on investment.

a)To ensure all damage and faults are highlighted to customers and recorded accurately on appropriate company documentation. Obtain purchase order numbers as per procedure.Ensure a value for money service is provided and the recommendations are a fair assessment of the repair required.

b)Work can be invoiced accurately to the correct individual following all Company requirements.

a)To accurately complete all paperwork required within the role including servicing sheets, breakdown reports, accident reports, timesheets, quotes etc in a timely fashion.

b)Paperwork is completed and sent to the office within the stipulated time period.

a)To work closely with the sales team, informing them of any potential leads and to participate in site surveys and site meetings as and when required.

b)Continued business development.

a)To ensure service van is kept clean & tidy and van stock is maintained and profiled to customer base.

b)Maintain Company image, department efficiency and first time fix rate.

a)To follow all Company, customer and Governmental Health & Safety policies and procedures.

b)The safety of yourself, your colleagues, customers or other third parties is never put at risk.

a)To ensure all allocated work is performed to the specified standard and within the allocated time period.

b)Maximise own efficiency without burdening other colleagues.

a)To ensure necessary replacement parts and spares for stock are ordered promptly.

b)Customer downtime is minimised.

a)To ensure all Company issued tools and safety/protective equipment are kept in a satisfactory condition reporting all deficiencies immediately.Own tools and safety/protective equipment may only be used once approved by the departmental manager and must then be kept and used under the Company conditions as outlined above.

b)Quality of workmanship is maintained at the prescribed level and risk of personal or third party injury is minimised.
