Catering and Conferencing Manager

£28k - £30 Wakefield

Hrs. – Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sunday. Days

 

First Choice are recruiting for a talented and capable Catering and Conferencing Manager who will be responsible for the management of the Museums catering and conferencing business so that it is commercially successful, achieving its financial targets by maximising income and profitability whilst consistently exceeding visitor expectations. You will balance daily operational demands with the need to develop the business for the longer term.

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE OF RUNNING A RESTAURANT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the Catering and Conferencing business providing a food and beverage offer to ensure the Museum maintains a strong and credible offer in the tourist market, working with colleagues to target a relevant audience and develop and report on quantitative and qualitative performance targets.
  • Review and develop the Museums conferencing offer working with the Commercial Manager to drive income generation opportunities across the Museum.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process and financial reporting on income generation including the management and reporting of financial information. Agree targets for the management of costs such as labour, stock, and waste. Agreeing sales targets and put strategies in place to achieve them by maximising spend and profit per head.
  • Recruit, training and develop a team that can provide the highest level of customer service to all our visitors.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health and safety in accordance with key statutory provisions. Act as a licensee and ensure all stage are aware of their responsibilities within that.
  • Be accountable for their own personal development and to keep up to date with museum and industrial heritage developments, education policies and developments both nationally and worldwide.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of all staff, volunteers and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
  • Relevant knowledge of catering best practice including the production and service of good quality food and drink.
  • Reporting to: Museum Director
  • Responsible for: Chef and Catering Assistants

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Proven track record of leading a culture of exceptional customer service in a similar operation.
  • Experience of managing a team of staff including recruitment, induction and training and performance management.
  • Experience of developing, costing, and delivering food offering to consistently high standards.
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene, allergens, and H&S compliance requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

  • Degree/HND/BTEC or City and Guilds level 4 or equivalent (or equivalent level of experience)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, manage conflicting priorities and remain calm, enthusiastic and professional under pressure
  • Interest in museums and industrial heritage
