HR & Training Officer

First Choice Recruitment is thrilled to be representing an innovative Modular Buildings organisation based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, who wish to appoint an HR & Training Officer on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role

The HR & Training Officer will be results focused, have strong organisational and communication skills and have a passion to work with managers to help build a culture that enables every employee to deliver to their potential and ultimately grow the business.

To assist in the delivery and implementation of a new companywide training program.

Main duties include:

  • Reporting to the Head of HR, you will support and assist the HR and Training function.

  • Establish and develop effective relationships which support the delivery of the HR & training services.

  • Assist with the recruitment and selection process ensuring the onboarding process is handled in a professional manner to expedite the settling in period.

  • Ensure the on-boarding and off-boarding processes are handled in a professional manner to ensure everyone is consistently treated fairly.

  • Assist with continuously improving engagement and maximising productivity, devolving HR responsibilities to line managers and building leadership capability. Identify HR trends so that attention can be directed to key issues and resources.

  • Respond to employee and other client queries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Actively participate in wider organisational activities, such as projects and working groups and encourage other team members to do so.

  • Act as a role model and advocate of the business, living the values and behaviours of the business in all dealings with staff, clients and partners.

  • Proactively participate in effective and continuous development processes, taking responsibility for own 1:1 performance development meetings and competency framework.

  • Contribute positively to team development by sharing information and supporting/mentoring new staff.

  • Contribute and regularly coach, mentor, and support colleagues to develop skills in HR related topics and employee relations alongside the head of HR

  • Actively contribute to a culture of constant feedback and continuous learning to improve organisational capability and performance.

  • Participate in personal development and continuous learning, keeping knowledge and skills up to date and contributing to the future plans and transformation of the business.

The Successful candidate:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar role at a similar level AND hold a level 3 minimum, qualification in Human Resources, or equivalent.

  • A Training qualification would be a distinct advantage.

  • Pro active with a true passion for training.

  • Must be a driver and own your own car
